Privacy
This page explains what Twenty Acres collects, why, and what it does with it. It is written plainly, and it only describes what the website actually does.
What we collect
Twenty Acres does not ask visitors to create an account, and reading the Journal does not require handing over any information. The one thing we do collect is an email address, and only if someone chooses to give it to us by joining The Club.
The Club
Joining The Club uses genuine double opt-in. Entering an email address does not add anyone to anything. It sends a confirmation email, and only once that confirmation link is clicked is the address treated as confirmed. The link is signed and expires after 24 hours; an unclicked link simply lapses.
Before confirmation, the email address exists only inside that signed link, not in any subscriber list.
How email is used
A confirmed email address is used to send the occasional note from Twenty Acres described at sign-up: new stories, beautiful things, and the details we’re keeping. It is not sold, rented or shared with anyone for marketing purposes, and it is not used to build an advertising profile.
Resend
Twenty Acres uses Resend to send these emails and to hold the list of confirmed subscribers. Resend is the only third party that receives an email address as a direct result of joining The Club. Confirmation emails are sent from editor@twentyacresclub.com, with replies going to hello@twentyacresclub.com.
Website operation
Like most websites, ordinary technical information passes through the systems that host and serve Twenty Acres as part of how the web works, such as a visitor’s general request information. This exists to keep the site running rather than to build a profile of anyone visiting.
Cookies and tracking
Twenty Acres does not intentionally use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, Hotjar or any other session-recording tool, and it does not knowingly use advertising cookies or behavioural tracking to build a profile of visitors.
This page describes the site’s intentional design. It isn’t a claim that no cookie or technical log of any kind can ever exist, only that nothing here is set out to track visitors.
External links and Pinterest
Some pages link out to Pinterest, and articles sometimes link to other websites. Once a visitor follows one of those links, they are on a website Twenty Acres doesn’t control, governed by that website’s own privacy practices, not this one.
Where an outgoing link is an affiliate link, that is covered separately in the Affiliate Disclosure.
How information is used
In short: a confirmed email address is used to send the emails described above, and for nothing else. It is not used to personalise advertising, and it is not passed to advertisers.
Sharing and service providers
Resend, described above, is the email provider Twenty Acres uses to send and manage these emails. Beyond the hosting and infrastructure that any website needs to run, no confirmed email address is otherwise shared with a third party.
Your choices
Never confirming a signup means the address is never added anywhere. A confirmed subscriber can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every email Twenty Acres sends.
To ask a question about any of this, or about what information Twenty Acres holds, write to hello@twentyacresclub.com.
